Flowers adapted to pollination by insects :-

  • Flowers adopted to pollination by different methods such as wind, insects, birds etc.

  • Flowers produce a sugary liquid which is called nectar. The fragrance of this nectar attract the insects.

  • When an insect sits on a flower to feed then the pollen grains stick to the body of insects and the insect move from one flower to another flower, these pollen grains are transferred to the female stigma of same or different flower.

  • The examples of pollinator insects are bees, butterflies, wasps, moths, flies, beetles etc.

  • There are several  insects which help in pollination some are bees,flies,wasps,moths and beetles.
