Given :

Two resistors of 3Ω and 6Ω are connected in parallel across a battery of 10V.

To Find :

  • Current through each resistor
  • Ammeter reading

Solution :

❖ First of all we need to find equivalent resistance of the circuit.

Here both resistances are connected in parallel.

➙ 1/R = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂

➙ 1/R = 1/6 + 1/3

➙ 1/R = 3/6

➙ R = 6/3

R = 2 Ω

Let's find net current flow in the circuit.

As per ohm's law, V = I × R

➛ V = I × R

➛ 10 = I × 2

➛ I = 10/2

I = 5A (Reading of ammeter)

Current through 6Ω :

➠ V = I₁ × R₁

➠ 10 = I₁ × 6

➠ I₁ = 10/6

I₁ = 1.67A

Current through 3Ω :

➠ I₁ + I₂ = I

➠ 1.67 + I₂ = 5

➠ I₂ = 5 - 1.67

I₂ = 3.33 A

Given

a circut

2 resistors of value 6 ohm and 3ohm are connected in parallel arrangement.

voltage = 10 V

To find

(i) Current through each resistor

(ii) Ammeter reading

Solution

current showing in ammeter = 5 Ampere

current in 6 ohm resistor = 1.67 Ampere

current in 3 ohm resistor = 3.33 Ampere
