Given :- Study the following line chart carefully and answer the question given below. The following line-graph represents the number of branches of public sector banks in India in different years . (Refer to image for graph.)

To Find :- The percentage increase in the number of branches from 1980- 81 to 2020 - 21.

Solution :-

Given that, the value of number of branches is in Thousands.

from graph we can see that,

→ Number of branches in 1980 - 81 were = 10 * 1000 = 10,000 .

and,

→ Number of branches in 1980 - 81 are = 80 * 1000 = 80,000 .

Therefore,

Total number of branches increased from 1980 - 81 to 2020 - 21 are = 80000 - 10000 = 70,000

Hence,

% of Branches increased = (Number of Branches increased * 100) / (Number of branches in 1980 - 81)

Putting values we get,

→ % of Branches increased = (70000 * 100) / 10000

→ % of Branches increased = 7 * 100

→ % of Branches increased = 700 % (Ans.)

The number of branches increased from 1980 - 81 to 2020 - 21 is 700% .
