In other words, speed is also defined as the ratio of distance and time.

Now, mathematically:

$\implies\: v= \dfrac{S}{t}$

$\implies\: S= vt \: \: \: ......(1)$

Comparing the above equation with :

$\therefore \: y = mx \: \: \: \: .....(2)$

We can say that , the slope of S-t graph gives us the speed of the car.

• Higher the slope of the curve, higher will be the velocity.

In the given graph:

• Car A has higher slope (because the line is more steeper)

• Car B has lesser slope (because the line is less steep).

Hence, car A has higher speed.
