Cause it needs the latent heat to overcome the forces of attraction and then it can change it's form to gaseous…but sublimation can also occur without heating the substance like it occurs in the naphthalene balls where you just put it with Ur clothes and stuff and without knowing Ur consent it disappears in the atmosphere
