PLANT CELL-

  • In plant cell there are two layers through which substances produced passes. The outermost layer of plant cell is called CELL WALL, that is made up of cellulose which protects the cell.
  • The inner layer of plant cell is called CELL MEMBRANE, which is semi-permeable.

ANIMAL CELL-

  • There is only one layer protection present in animal cell called CELL MEMBRANE. This is semi permeable membrane that permits substances to enter and exit the cell. Besides protection it also maintains the interior environment of the cell.

Substances produced in a cell and exported outside the cell would go through the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus.

  • Both endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus are membrane-bound organelles present in the eukaryotic cells.
  • The substances like proteins or steroids that are synthesized inside a cell are produced by the endoplasmic reticulum.
  • These substances go to the Golgi apparatus for modification after which these are packed and transported to different locations within the cells.
  • The substances that reach the lysosomes are transported outside the cell through a process called exocytosis.
