(8 - 9xy + 3x² - 5x) - (3x² - 2x + 5xy - 7)

= (3x² - 9xy - 5x + 9) - (3x² + 5xy - 2x - 7)

= 3x² - 9xy - 5x + 9 - 3x² - 5xy + 2x + 7

= 3x² - 3x² - 9xy - 5xy - 5x + 2x + 9 + 7

= -14xy - 3x + 16
