Subtract -7 from 8 and 8 from -7. Are the results same? Why?

No, the results aren’t the same.

(8) - (-7) = 15 whereas (-7) - (8) = -15

This is because Subtraction isn’t commutative. Commutativity isn't just a property of an operation alone... Subtraction is not commutative since we can't say that a – b = b – a for all numbers (that can be a and b). Even though a – b = b – a whenever a and b are the same, that still doesn't make subtraction commutative over the set of all real numbers.
