Suchetra kriplani was a indian freedom fighter and politician. She was India's first woman Chief Minister, serving as the head of the Uttar Pradesh government from 1963 to 1967.Like her contemporaries Aruna Asaf Ali and Usha Mehta, she came to the forefront during the Quit India Movement. She later worked closely with Mahatma Gandhi during the Partition riots. She accompanied him to Noakhali in 1946. She was one of the few women who were elected to the Constituent Assembly and was part of the subcommittee that drafted the Indian Constitution. She became a part of the subcommittee that laid down the charter for the constitution of India. On 14 August 1947, she sang Vande Mataramin the Independence Session of the Constituent Assembly a few minutes before Nehru delivered his famous "Tryst with Destiny" speech.
She was also the founder of the All India Mahilla Congress, established in 1940.

सुचेता कृपलानी का जन्म 25 जून, 1908 को भारत के हरियाणा राज्य के अम्बाला शहर में हुआ। उनकी शिक्षा लाहौर और दिल्ली में हुई थी। 1963 से 1967 तक वह उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री रहीं। सुचेता कृपलानी देश की पहली महिला मुख्यमंत्री थीं। वे बंटवारे की त्रासदी में महात्मा गांधी के बेहद क़रीब रहीं। सुचेता कृपलानी उन चंद महिलाओं में शामिल थीं, जिन्होंने बापू के क़रीब रहकर देश की आज़ादी की नींव रखी। वह नोवाखली यात्रा में बापू के साथ थीं। वर्ष 1963 में उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री बनने से पहले वह लगातार दो बार लोकसभा के लिए चुनी गईं। सुचेता दिल की कोमल तो थीं, लेकिन प्रशासनिक फैसले लेते समय वह दिल की नहीं, दिमाग की सुनती थीं। उनके मुख्यमंत्री काल के दौरान राज्य के कर्मचारियों ने लगातार 62 दिनों तक हड़ताल जारी रखी, लेकिन वह कर्मचारी नेताओं से सुलह को तभी तैयार हुईं, जब उनके रुख़ में नरमी आई। जबकि सुचेता के पति आचार्य कृपलानी खुद समाजवादी थे। आज़ादी के आंदोलन में भाग लेने के लिए उन्हें जेल की सज़ा हुई। 1946 में वह संविधान सभा की सदस्य चुनी गईं। 1948 से 1960 तक वह भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस की महासचिव थीं।
