Fair Bird Buddies

Amidst the dense Swiss forest, there lived a flock of nuthatches which went about storing food for rainy days. They worked hard to find insects, nuts, and seeds and store food, especially seeds, in tree crevices, on the ground, under small stones, or behind bark flakes. All the birds were very busy collecting different foods for themselves and finding a suitable place to store them. The youngest of the flock found a huge rock in the forest and he found it ideal to store a lot of food. 

In fact, that rock belonged to a group of robins who flew around it singing in their beautiful voice. When the nuthatches heard robins, they were fascinated by their song. Gradually both the groups grew fond of each other and became best friends forever. They would often share food and sing together. Slowly, the other animal got to learn about their singing and they started coming to the rock to hear them sing. On one such day, when the concert just got over suddenly it started raining and all the animals started running here and there, but the nuthatches and the robins stayed there only waiting for the rain to stop. 

A pair of wolves sat at a distance and the rain made them more hungry. As soon as the pair made their plan to prance upon the birds, the robins shouted out loud warning calls to alert all the nuthatches. Within a few seconds, all the birds reached to safety. But from that day onwards the Wolves went about prying near the rock waiting for a kill. The birds were too smarts to be caught and they soon changed their haunts. Even after all their efforts, the crafty wolves could not find any of the birds.
