The ending portion of "Great Expectations" by Charles dickens could have been a little happier or at least better than what we got. In the end, it was shown that Pip and Estella, i.e two of the most important characters of this story, were not together. In general, we always expect stories to ed both a happy ending where  the last portions end like this:

"......and they lived happily ever after".

However in this novel, Charles Dickens brought a round about way of ending the characters of the novel. It was shown that Pip could not find a shadow of Estella. but we are still confused about the fact whether the two were together or not. hopefully there were not together. However from their ending conversation we can understand that pip eventually went to Satis house and then it was demolished.
