There are many measures that can be adopted to remove inequality in the Indian society
Explanation:
- Rich farmers are also excluded from taxation in a predominantly farming country (almost 49 per cent of India's workforce). Reading this together with the reality that the vast farmers are taking advantage of the bulk of farm subsidies in India, the distributive disparity becomes clearer. India has high time to implement more focused farming policies. The MSP, farm subsidies such as oil subsidies, pesticide quotas, farm loan concessions etc. are only to be extended to the disadvantaged sections that they warrant.
- The truth in India is that in a historically patriarchal Indian culture women have no support. For instance, in compliance with the India Human Development Survey (IHDS), women own less than 2% of India's agricultural land. For attempt to counteract this pattern, strategically selected industries such as textiles, food processing, & apparels, tax rebates can be given if women own the assets.⠀In addition, huge state investment in "Self Help Groups (SHG)" by making women a part of the "governing structure" such as govt procurement, and so on will help
- Revision of legislative frameworks that foster inequality. This approach will lead to recognition of discriminatory legislation or laws that creates differences between citizens or regions. Laws which do not consider domestic workers as productive, or those which do not have equal access to social security programs. Informal poor workers may be discriminated against in spite of such legislation; farm workers, for example, lacking access to social insurance (and thus pensions). Such regulations should also be changed so that such communities are included.
- Improved connectivity to highways, communications & markets will have a huge effect on poverty reduction and open the doors to marginalised groups. Besides that, the decentralisation of public services, offices and businesses will foster shared wealth across regions by avoiding regional poverty pockets.
- We should first of all counter the discrimination between castes and genders by recognizing the worth and integrity of all labor (including unpaid employment) and all workers (including the hardest and most demanding jobs). We should also make historically marginalized and excluded communities, especially through the support of unions and associations, more sensitive and making both public and corporate private operation more accountable & transparent to the people generally
