A wire that is carrying current will have a magnetic field.

If you place a magnet near the wire current carrying wire then the wire will deflect due to the magnetic field.

This is the reason insulated coating is done over them to prevent shock.

Whereas in a wire without current, there is no effect.

Answer:By bringing a msgnetic beedle near the wire.

Explanation:

A current carrying wire will produce a defelection in the needle as it posses a magnetic field around it.

Where asa wire without current will produce no deflection in the needle as it does not posses a magnetic field around it.

Hence the deflection in the needle will be the test for the existence of current in the wire.
