The green color is a pigment which can disturb the test and may not give the required test..Thus the the green colour from the leaf, before testing with iodine solution

Hi !

Green colour(chlorophyll) is removed from the leaf before testing the leaf with iodine solution.
This is because this pigment would not give us the accurate results , and would make alterations in the results to be obtained.
Hence, by removing cholorophyll from the leaves , we can obtain the most accurate result.
