Sulphur has 6 valence electrons...bromine has 7 valence electrons...however the nuclear charge on bromine's valence electrons is more due to its small size...sulphur's size is larger than bromine and its nuclear charge on its valence electrons is less...hence the electron gain enthalpy of sulphur is less than bromine
