Let the present age of Ganesh be x years and present age of Ramesh be y years.

Sum of the ages of Ganesha and Ramesh is 33 years.

According to question,

\implies\:\sf{x+y\:=\:33}

\implies\:\sf{x\:=\:33-y}......(1)

Also given that, Ganesh is 5 years elder than Ramesh.

\implies\:\sf{x\:=\:5+y}

Substitute value of x = 33 - y in above equation

\implies\:\sf{33-y\:=\:5+y}

\implies\:\sf{33-5\:=\:2y}

\implies\:\sf{28\:=\:2y}

\implies\:\sf{14\:=\:y}

\implies\:\sf{y\:=\:14}

•°• Present age of Ramesh is 14 years.

Substitute value of y = 14 in x

\implies\:\sf{x\:=\:33-14}

\implies\:\sf{x\:=\:19}

•°• Present age of Ganesh be 19 years.

Verification

Sum of the ages of Ganesha and Ramesh is 33 years.

From above calculations we have x = 19 and y = 14

→ x + y = 33

→ 19 + 14 = 33

→ 33 = 33

Also, Ganesh is 5 years elder than Ramesh.

→ x = 5 + y

→ 19 = 5 + 14

→ 19 = 19
