The relation between wavelength and refractive index is:

Refractive index, n = fraccv

Where,

  • c is the velocity of light in vacuum
  • v is the velocity of light in a medium

We know that,

v = fλ

Where,

  • f is the frequency
  • λ is the wavelength

Substituting v in the refractive index, we get

n = fraccflambda

Therefore, it can be said that the refractive index is inversely proportional to the wavelength.

Hope it helps :)
