Let number are ( x ) and ( 2490 - x ),



According to the question :

8.5% of x = 6.5% of ( 2490 - x )



$=> \frac{85}{1000} \times x= \frac{65}{1000} \times (2490 - x) \\ \\ \\ => \frac{85x}{1000} = \frac{161850 - 65x}{1000} \\ \\ \\ => 85x = 161850 - 65x \\ \\ \\ => 150x = 161850 \\ \\ \\ = > x = \frac{16180}{150} \\ \\ \\ => x = 1079$



Hence, Numbers are :-

1079
2490 - 1079 = 1441

so
a+b = 2490

also
8.5% of a = 6.5% of b

so
8.5a = 6.5b
85a = 65b
17a = 13b

so
b = 17a/13

a + b = 2490
a + 17a/13 = 2490
[13a + 17a]/13 = 2490
30a/13 = 2490
__________________
a = 2490×13÷30
a = 83×13
a = 1079

so
b = 17a/13
b = 17×1079÷13
b = 1411
