So, as per the conditions,

and,

➡ x - y = 13 ......(ii)

Adding both the equations, we get,

➡ x + y + x - y = 35 + 13

➡ 2x = 48

Dividing both sides by 2, we get,

➡ x = 48/2

➡ x = 24

Now, substituting x in the equation (i), we get,

➡ 24 + y = 35

Subtracting 24 from both sides, we get,

➡ y = 35 - 24

➡ y = 11

Hence, the numbers are 24 and 11 respectively.

Verification:-

Let us verify our result.

x = 24 and y = 11

So,

x + y

= 24 + 11

= 35

Also,

x - y

= 24 - 11

= 13.
