Difference of the two numbers i.e., x-y=43 --(2)
Solving eq.(1) and eq.(2)
x+y = 137
x-y = 43
----------------
2x = 180
------------------
we get x= 90
Now substitute x in eq.(2)
we get y = 47
Verification :-
put x and y values in eq.(1) or eq.(2)
we get , x+y = 137
90+47 =137
Also, x-y = 43
90 - 47 = 43
Hence,the required two numbers are 90 and 47
