Hey!

Let the number be x.

Other number is (x + 15).

(x + 15) + x =75

2x + 15 =75

2x = 75-15

2x =60

x =30

Answer:

X value is 30

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the first and the second number be X and X + 15 respectively (because the first X exceeds the other by 15, i.e, X + 15)

X + X + 15 = 75

2X + 15 = 75

2X = 75 - 15

2X = 60

X = 30

Hence proved.

now, since X = 30 then the other number is 30 + 15 = 45.

Concept

Addition (usually represented by the plus sign +) is one of the four basic operations in arithmetic, the other three being subtraction, multiplication, and division.[2] Adding two whole numbers gives the total  or sum of those values together. The example in the  image below shows a combination of three apples and two apples, making a total of five apples. This observation is equivalent to the mathematical expression "3 + 2 = 5" (ie "3 plus 2 equals 5").
