Let the no. be. x and y

x is larger no. while y is smaller

x+y =97 -------(1)

x= 97-y

x= 7y +1

x-7y = 1----------(2)

putting value of x from eq.(1) into equation ( 2 )

97-y -7y =1

97 -8y = 1

8y = 96

y = 12

putting value of y into any equation either in (1) 0r (2)

x = 97 -12

=> 85
