suman is three years older than her sister Shashi. if the sum of there ages is 25 find their age

Let the age of suman be x years and age of shashi be y years .
According to the 1st condition, suman is 3 years older than shashi.
this means x = 3+ y ..............(1)


According to the second condition, The sum of their ages is 25

So, x+y = 25 ..........(2)

Now substituting value of x in eqn 2

3+y+y = 25
2y = 22
So, y= 11

Putting y=11 in eqn 1

then x = y +3 = 11 +3 = 14


Thus age of suman is 14 years and age of Shashi is 11 years.
