Given - Payment for 50 km = Rs. 1100/-

Payment for 90 km = Rs. 1900/-

Find - Fixed charges for taxi.

Solution - Let us assume that fixed charges by Sumedh for taxi are Rs. x and fare is Rs. y.

Now, forming mathematical expression on the basis of given information on fare and fixed charges, we get -

90y + x = 1900 ---> equation 1

50y + x = 1100 ---> equation 2

Subtracting equation 2 from equation 1, we get for the value of y

40y = 800

y = 20

Finding x by keeping value of y in the equation 1 -

90*20 + x = 1900

1800 + x = 1900

x = Rs. 100

Thus, fixed charges for taxi are (c) Rs. 100/-
