Let Sumitra has 'x' 50-paise coins & 'y' 25-paise coins.
She has rs 34
So rs 1 = 100 paise
rs 34 = 34*100 = 3400 paise
50x + 25y = 3400 ----------- (1)
Given that , y = 2x ------------(2)
from equation (1) & (2) we get
50x + 25*(2x) = 3400
50x + 50x = 3400
100x = 3400
x = 34
From (2) we get
y = 2x = 2*34 = 68
So,
Number of 50-paise coins = 34
Number of 25-paise coins = 68

Answer:

68

Step-by-step explanation:

let the no. of 50 paise coins be X

no.of 25 paise coins be 2x

value of X fifty paise coins = 50*X paise

=rs 50*X/100

=rs X/2

value of 2x twenty five paise coins= 25*2x paise

50x paise =

rs 50x/100= rs X/2

Total value of all coins = rs (X/2+X/2)

= rs X

but,the total value of the money is = rs 34

X=34

Thus, number of 50 paise coins=34

no. of 25 paise coins = 2x

=2*34

=68
