Each of element contains electrons in electron shells .First cell contain 2 atoms which is calld K shell.
2nd shell can accomodate 8 electrons which is called L shell .3rd and 4th shells are called M and N cell which can accomodate 18 and 32 electrons but if a shell contains more then 8 electrons then it will be unstable. So,the outermost shell are filled with only 8 electrons. For ex - sodium has atomic no. 11 then its electronic configuration will be-
