What is atmospheric pressure?


AbhishGS: The pressure in our atmosphere which 1atm. i.e. about 2 elephants weight is called atmospheric pressure.
Aarchi111: the pressure exerted by atmosphere is called atmosphereric pressure

AbhishGS: and deep in sea there pressure of 24 atm .i.e. about 48 elephants pressure where we can't survive.

atmospheric pressure is the pressure exerted by the wieght of the atmosphere which is at the sea level.

Ans:- If you mean atmospheric pressure, it is the pressure created by the weight of the atmosphere above it, as modified a bit by the weather. The pressure deceases with altitude. In a normally aspirated internal combustion engine (no turbo) it is air pressure which fills the cylinder. When drinking with a straw, it is air pressure that pushes the drink up the straw; there is no ‘suction’ pulling the liquid. And most importantly, the atmospheric pressure pushes the air into your lungs allowing you to absorb the Oxygen from the air. As we fly up into air above about 10,000 feet, we need to pressurize the aircraft cabin to be able to breathe normally.
