Explanation:

First of all, this mechanism, the mechanism of hearing is pretty simple to understand. This is how this mechanism works:
Sound waves enter the outer ear and travel through the external auditory canal until they reach the tympanic membrane, causing the membrane and the attached chain of auditory ossicles to vibrate.

The motion of the stapes against the oval window sets up waves in the fluids of the cochlea, causing the basilar membrane to vibrate. This stimulates the sensory cells of the organ of Corti, atop the basilar membrane, to send nerve impulses to the brain.

The mechanism of hearing:

  • When we speak out, we hear the sound in our internal ears.  When the sound is made, for it to be heard it needs to be transmitted to the brain or the central nervous system.
  • Here the energy that the sound dissipates undergoes three transformations. Primarily, the vibrations present in the air gets converted to the vibrations that are present in the ossicles of the middle year and the tympanic membranes.
  • Then these vibrations can be transferred to the fluid that is present at the cochlear area. And finally, this allows the sound to be heard at the internal ear.
