Answer:

Indeed the two first ever people to have reached the Summit of Mt.Everest must have had a difficult time in achieving something like that. Prior to their victory in climbing Everest, 9 expeditions had already gone on the Mountain but had turned up empty handed.

The climbers, Tenzing and Hillary faced multiple challenges. Firstly their leader of the pack was quite strict, Sir John Hunt.

They started with a group of 10 people but had to carry a lot of camping and climbing gear. For instance, 350 porters, 20 Sherpas, and tons of supplies as well.

They had a hard time trying to retrace the steps of the Swiss team. It took them 12 days to do so.

There were difficulties in breathing due to altitude level. Basic human needs issues obviously and more. A lot of mental stamina was needed and there came points of exhaustion and trying to achieve something which seemed quite impossible.

It was dangerous due to the height, snow falling, climbing a mountain is obviously dangerous because people can fall and die or get frostbite and even drown under an avalanche.

Explanation:

It was a highly risky expedition that Hillary and Edmund undertook. There had been at least three of four attempts to scale the mountains before this iconic climb of Hillary and Edmund.

They had set camp at 27900 feet. They spent a freezing and sleepless night and then started the hardest climb.

They reached the South Summit at 9 am and then scaled the last 40 feet to reach the top which was very hard as it was a steep rocky surface.
