In a Sketch by Christina George Rossetti, the poet uses a metaphor for one of her acquaintances or friend. She criticizes him by calling her friend "A mole" and "The blindest buzzard". From the first stanza, it can be inferred that the poet's friend is a writer, "His quill is cut to a pen."
In the second stanza, the poet criticizes his friend by referring to his inability to read the part and see what is in the reach. She refers that he cannot see simple things as he is dimwitted.
In the third stanza of the poem, the poet wonders about his understanding of the simple things. In that matter, she wishes that he would not expect any kind of help. For his help, she can only refer to the facts which are clearly visible. Yet the poet believes due to blinders on his eyes, he would not perceive the truth and that he will turn away from the truth.
