Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes is a true story about a girl named Sadako who lived in Hiroshima,Japan. Sadako dreams to be a very good runner but when she gets dizzy,she can't live that dream. She gets to a hospital and realizes that it is the leukemia hospital.She had heard stories that most of the people have never come out of there. One day Sadako's friend tells her about the thousand paper cranes. The story goes that if you make a thousand paper cranes, the Gods will heal you. After Sadako hears about this she is determined to make a thousand paper cranes. Each day Sadako makes a few. Despite the pain she is going through she still is determined to make them. As days go by, Sadako sadly gets weaker and weaker. Eventually Sadako dies. She was able to make 644 paper cranes before she passed away. Sadako still lives in everyones hearts. Her monument can be found in Hiroshima Peace Park.
