a seemingly true story of true love between a lady and a bear. The narrator was a hunter too and his wife loved animals. Once the narrator got a little bear while hunting and he handed it over to his wife. The lady loved animals so she took care of the little bear, named it Bruno. When Bruno grew up, her love grew up too. The bear loved her too. Finally the narrator had to transfer Bruno to a zoo for safety reasons.
When Bruno was gone, the narrator’s wife was pathetic. She could not eat in the bear’s absence. In the zoo, Bruno was on a hunger strike. He fretted and grew slim and pathetic. Not able to bear what she had heard about Bruno, the narrator’s wife went to the zoo, got permission from the zoo authorities and brought Bruno back.
