In this chapter Helen describes many experiences such as her mountain holidays, campfires nights, hunting expeditions and her pony.
Chapter 11 is part of Helen Keller's explanation of the way that Miss Sullivan helps her to interact in full normal life and society. Keller explains the fall break at the summer cottage of her parents, named Fern Quarry. Keller could now participate joyfully in life, in sharp contrast to her alienated, angry existence of frustrations and tantrums as child shut up inside her house, not being able to convey her desires or thoughts
Helen elucidates the vivid experience she had and in what way her mind blossomed when she had reached home. She describes the trip to the mountain house of Fern Quarry. The ferns, big oaks, and splendid Evergreens that encircled Fern Quarry, are described in detail. She also describes their pretty cottage situated on top of the mountain among the oaks and pines. She also tells us about the stunning cottage between oaks and pines on the top of the mountain.
Each night, she addresses campfire guests and the men's hunting excursions. She talks of barbecues and her pony Black Beauty. She spent her best hours on the pony's back. She relished collecting nuts and Persimmons and listening to the train. She also tells her story about the adventure when Miss Sullivan and her little sister, Mildred, gets lost.
