The title of the story named “The little girl” by Katherine Mansfield presents a cozy and warm relationship between a mother and a daughter and with a strict and rude picturesque of a father and the little girl. The writer Katherine Mansfield has tried to focus on the importance of love of both the parents with their child. The little girl is always scared of her father as she has always seen her father coming to home from working or sleeping. She has never seen him happy or in a cheerful mood. His serious and pensive mood disturbs the aura of the entire house. The little girl, Kezia feels comfortable in the company of her grandmother and mother. Her birthday surprise to her father was making a special and comfortable silk cushion but landed her in deep trouble. She was beaten by a ruler by her father, as she torn the written speech into innumerable pieces to make the filling. Later, she realized the importance and goodness of her father, when her mother fell sick and she spent more time with her father. The bad image of her father has gone from her mind forever. The writer focuses on the importance of equal love of both the parents for the children. If any child does not get this love, he/she feels that parents are carrying a bad image of them in their eyes.
