this story written by RK Narayan tells us about a 12 year old boy named Thambi who had a habit of dashing with every report of cricket scores, traffic incidents etc which he used to tell to his elders who listened to him very interestingly. once he brought a news about the  MT Everest being climbed by two people Tenzing and Hillary but no one believes him and elders start discussing about their own opinions about the news to which thambi becomes very angry and leaves.
