The poem "Old wife and the ghost" is written by James Reeves.He tells us a tale of an old lady and a ghost.It

is told that the old lady lives alone in the house and the poor lady is deaf.One night a ghost enters her house and gets into her kitchen.The ghost tried to scare the lady by banging on the doors and Windows and the ghost throws the utensils on the floor. But the lady is unable to hear any noise as she is deaf.When the sun rider in the morning the ghost goes away.When the lady wakes up she gets irritated to see her house in a bad state.She thinks that this destruction was done by some mice.

So she brings a cat next day.
