Answer:

All About a Dog'' is a story about a woman who boards a bus with a small dog in her lap. She fights with the conductor about the rule of ''no dogs allowed'' until finally she agrees to walk up to the second level of the bus in the cold air. But when the bus stops, the woman walks back down into the warmth of the bus and the fight ensues again. At the end of the story, we learn that it is a parable designed to teach us about rules. As the narrator says at the end of the story, ''Some are hard and fast rules, like the rule of the road, which cannot be broken without danger to life and limb. But some are only rules for your guidance, which you can apply or wink at, as common sense dictates like that rule about the dogs.'' Gardiner is trying to teach us that when a rule is not in place for the sake of ensuring safety, it can be bent or broken in consideration of another person's thoughts or feelings.
