the listeners describes a Traveller who has come to knock on the moonlight door in an error unknown place that he has come to keep and unnamed promise and knocks on the door harder and harder but gets no response the traveler finally leaves but the listeners remain theme of the poem is the place of the man in the universe which is far greater than he and which he never connect with no understand it focuses on men state isolation and dis harmony with nature world nature is represented by horse munching on the grass and the bird frightened by the man's disturbing clamour is normally seen it is only man who is an anxious because of its Spectatness name the traveller tries to overcome his alone less and establish meaning by fruitless seeking and responsible living.
