This novel is about an old man who is too old to even work, he is so hardworking that when he is offered money he would not take it even though he is not sure about the next meal of the day. He is looking after his grandson who lost his parents in floodings, he spends all of his money on his grandson and eats the remaining if there are any.
Then one day there are some refugees which arrive, who are very poor and starving but they are very neat and clean, with decent dressing. They are well equipped with a lot of things but they have no traces of food with them and they have this thing visible on their faces which make them apathetic about things around them.
