This poem is written by Sir David Horsburgh about the rude relationship between the trees and the humans.

During his voyage he saw these actions which inforced him to think deepely  .  He describes the wound  on the trees. He describes the scene as “tragic

sight” and the trees as “noble trees”because they are the simplest organism on this earth to leave silently without disturbing anyone .

The poet says that these trees were planted by noble souls

like Visveswaraya (who was the great thinker about environment), a true architect of Mysore and Ismail, the son of Abraham

and he asks them to come from their dwelling place, that is, Heaven and witness

the effects of the good deeds done for humans.

He then states his helplessness by saying that let them enjoy

cutting, hacking and use it for cooking or use it for holy purpose.

In this poem, the poet has personified the trees, the poem

is written in broken lines.  This states

that the poet was broken up totally on witnessing this sight. The poet then decided to take a accurate decision about saving trees which are the lifeline for all living organisms on this earth. This not only save the population of trees but also ensure a golden future for our coming generations .

'A Heritage of Trees', written by David Horsburgh, emphasizes the importance of trees and how precious they are ! The poet personifies trees and says that humans mercilessly attack trees. He further describes that trees are mutilated, lacerated, and crippled by mankind. The wanton damage is inflicted by deforestation and he argues that afforestation should be practiced. In this non-rhyming poem, he mentions that if the noble people from the past come and see the state of their life's work (the trees), they will be very disappointed and hurt. The last point is that he says trees are our heritage and we need to preserve them along with nature.
