Tsegaye Gabre-Medhin was born in 1936 on 17th of August. He was an art director along with being an Ethiopian poet, and a playwright.

Born in the Ethiopian village of Bodaa which is situated about 120km away from Adis Ababa, Medhin was quite young when he had first started writing plays while still being in the local elementary school.
