HEY DEAR ...

The "Violet" represents a person who is extremely talented but is afraid to show her talents. She could have been the most beautiful thing ever know to the mankind, only if she came out of her hiding and oyster shell, and showed her real talents. The poet is a person who recognized the qualities of ye violet, and loves them. He wants to show those qualities to the world, yet the violet wont leave her hiding.
It means one's hidden talents cannot be unseen by others.

What is going on here? The poet is describing a flower, a purple flower called a violet. Does she like the violet or hate the violet? That is an important question to ask because some themes are more likely when a person has a positive attitude. She calls the flower, “lovely,” and “pretty.” So she likes the flower. Maybe beauty is a theme. Hold on to that. How else does she describe the violet other than pretty? She calls it “a modest violet” and says it has “modest tints.” Hmm, she repeated “modest” twice in describing the flower. That might be important. Repetition is a big clue in poetry because authors repeat the things they really want people to notice. What does modest mean? You might not know, so feel free to use a dictionary or a Google search. Being modest means not taking credit for good things you do. Humble is like modest - you can use either one. Are there any other words that mean something similar to “modest” in the poem? Yes, the last word of the poem is humility. Humility is a form of humble and we’ve already said that humble is like modest. Making something the very end of your poem probably means it’s important to you.

I think modesty is a theme of this poem. Beauty is a less important theme, but there’s evidence
