Chief Seattle was an important figure in the early American History. He was the chief of the Suquamish and Duwamish tribes, fighting for the rights of his native people in the face of American colonizers.
His Speech, was given to his people, when American Colonizers, wanted to buy Native Land of this tribe and in return offered them amnesty and the right to live there.
As an old Chief who had seen natives killed, he reluctant accepted the offer, since he believed, turning it down will only result in the total annihilation of his tribe.

The Great Chief in washington sent word to Chief seattle that he wished to buy his land. The Great chief also made offers of friendship, goodwill and protection of the red people. In response, Chief Seattle delivered a speech in 1854 in Wasington. In that speech, he put forth aguments infavour of ecological responsibility and respect of the native americans land rights. he recollected the hostilities between the whites and te tribal people would never like to restart the old hostilities. He understood that the White men and the red children were two distinct races with very little common in them.
He also stresses on how the red man is deeply attached with the land. In fact, Red men are more attached to the land than the Whites. the land has helped them leave and their ancestors were buried there. For them every bit of soil and landscape is sacred.
