Distance between sun and earth is not constant. Average distance between two is, 93,000,000 miles or 150 million Km.

Reason that this distance is not constant is earth's orbit around the sun is not a perfect circle but is in the shape of elliptical. Thus, distance changes throughout the year.

When it is closest, the distance is 91.4 million miles or 147.1 million km.

When it is farthest, the distance is 94.5 million miles or 152.1 million km.

The average distance between the sun and the earth is an astronomical unit(AU) which is equal to 150 million kilometers or 93 million miles.

Astronomical units are used to measure distance between astronomical bodies such as sun, moon and planets. The earth revolves in the orbit which is elliptical. So, the distance changes according to the position of the earth in the orbit.

Distance between sun and earth at its closest point is 147 million kilometers.

Distance between sun and earth at its most distant point is 152 million kilometers.
