After Kalpana Chawla, she is the 2nd woman of Indian origin to go to space. During her journey to space, she carried a copy of the religious book Bhagavad Gita and a tiny statue of Ganesha and also some samosas. She became the 1st female space traveller to have the longest spaceflight of 195 days.
