Mario Odyssey is, in my opinion, the best 3D Mario game and possibly the best Mario game of all time. Cappy has given him the best moveset he's ever had, and it would be really hard to make a new game with the same level of movement and ability while also ditching Cappy for something new, like all previous 3D Mario games have done with their respective gimmicks. Whatever 3D Mario game is coming next has some really big shoes to fill. IMO its almost as hard of a follow up as 64 was.

super mario 64 is the first mario game to leap into complete 3d with its classic environments re-visited in fully fleshed 3d with an amazing soundtrack.
