Plants are the primary producer and the foundation of any food chain. If a calamity leads to the disappearance of all plant species, there will be a disruption of the food web. If there will be no plants, the primary consumers i.e. herbivores will be unable to obtain any nutrition and will starve to death; similarly, due to death of primary consumers, the secondary consumer i.e. carnivores will be unable to derive nutrition and die. Thus, life will become extinct from the whole planet.
