Suppose that daily weather conditions (either rain or dry) follow a markov chain such that the probability of rain tomorrow given rain today is .4, whereas the probability of rain tomorrow given dry today is .2. Suppose also that the number of traffic accidents on a rainy day is poisson distributed with mean 3, whereas the number on a dry day is poisson distributed with mean 2. It is raining on monday.
