Answer:

The minimum resistance that can be derived from these resistors is if they are connected in parallel circuit. Their effective resistance would be lesser than the least resistance.

For parallel diagram, draw 20 lines of resistors connected to a circuit.

Hence eff resistance = 1/20 x 20 = 1 ohm

Given:

Two 20 ohm resistances have been provided.

To find:

Minimum resistance ?

Calculation:

  • The minimum resistance that can be derived from these two resistances is by placing them in PARALLEL COMBINATION.

  • Let equivalent resistance be R:

 \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{1}{20}  +  \dfrac{1}{20}

 \implies \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{1 + 1}{20}

 \implies \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{2}{20}

 \implies \dfrac{1}{R}  =  \dfrac{1}{10}

 \implies R = 10 \: ohm

So, the minimum resistance derived is 10 ohm.
