Suppose you drop a die at random on the rectangular region with length 28 cm and breadth 22 cm.

What is the probability that it will land inside the circle with diameter 7 cm ?

FINAL ANSWER:-

GIVEN:-

  • a die at random on the rectangular region (ABCD) with length 28 cm and breadth 22 cm . l=28cm\:\:;\:\:b=22cm
  • inside the rectangular region their is a circle of diameter 7 cm. r=\frac{7}{2}

TO FIND:-

probability that it will land inside the circle

FORMULA USED:-

area \:of \:rectangle=l*b

and

area\:of\:circle=\pi r^{2}

SOLUTION:-

area of rectangle ABCD = AB×BC

=28×22  ⇒ 616cm^{2}

= \pi *r*r

=\frac{22}{7} *\frac{7}{2} *\frac{7}{2}  ⇒ \frac{77}2} or 38.5cm^{2}

∴ probability that it will land inside the circle

=\frac{area\: of \:circle}{area \:of \:rectangle}

=\frac{38.5}{616} ⇒  \frac{385}{6160}
